Over the past several years, the Department of Corrections has designed and implemented a thoughtful strategic planning process which follows the model found in the 4 Disciplines of Execution, Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey, and Jim Huling.

This process has already led to many changes within the department, including:

•              establishing reset training and new curriculums for basic and
                annual trainings for staff;

•              introducing new technology and corrections innovations;

•              implementing policy improvements;

•              team development;

•              better collaboration with other criminal justice partners;

•              increases in pay and other benefits for staff;

•              an overhaul in food service and commissary operations;

•              a reclassification of offenders;

•              improvements in offender treatment; and

•              an overhaul of information available regarding our agency.
