This is a rendering of what the Sioux Falls Correctional Facility will look like upon completion.

The Sioux Falls Correctional Facility will be located in northeast Sioux Falls on Benson Road.

Site clearing began in December 2025. The expected completion date is 2030.

The new facility will replace the South Dakota State Penitentiary, which was built before statehood.

The new facility will house 1,500 male offenders.
